  • Job Title: Chemist/Flavourist

  • Based at: Lonjas UK (R&D Laboratories) Winchester Hill, Romsey, SO51 7UT

  • Position reports to: Production Manager

 

 

  • Job Description:

Design, conduct and/or review flavour creation experiments (e.g., laboratory or process experiments) in order to deliver new, consumer preferred flavours/flavour keys for Lonjas UK E-Liquid products.

 

Create, develop and evaluate/assess (e.g., through laboratory testing or sensory analysis) a working flavour prototype against technical requirements, fit to concept or performance specifications (e.g., functionality, operational feasibility, costing targets)

Evaluate ingredient or new flavour materials, product, processes and make recommendations for optimization based on project requirements.

 

Apply flavour creations in simple PG/VG bases and assist Company product developers and quality assurance associates with flavour related issues and questions as needed.

Participate in team projects, interdepartmental/divisional committees or company-wide initiatives in order to share information, represent the department/division perspective or assist with product development, process modification, package development and marketing.


 

  • Technical Skills- The following is a list of the top Technical Skills needed for the job.


 

Flavour Creation: Knowledge of flavour compounding and flavour creation and the ability to create and apply new flavour prototypes based on product briefs

Ingredients: Knowledge of key flavour ingredients in general and those specifically used in the production of concentrates and beverage bases with special attention to citrus and terpene flavour chemistry.

 

Basic Product Development: Knowledge of the product development process with a preference for prior beverage experience and beverage manufacturing knowledge and experience. Flexible and creative attitude with a strong attention to detail.

Analytical Chemistry: Ability to utilize and apply analytical instruments to assist with flavour creation and flavour problem solving.


 

Moderate Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and capable user; Knowledge of chromatography data systems and capable user.


 

Building Technical Relationships: Ability to apply technical knowledge and establish credibility through written reports and oral presentations with highly technical audiences in order to build technical relationships that will benefit customers or the Company.


 

Proprietary Composition Information: Ability to recognize and protect proprietary information as it relates to formulas and ingredients.

  • Job Title: Laboratory Technician

  • Based at: Lonjas UK (R&D Laboratories) Winchester Hill, Romsey, SO51 7UT

  • Position reports to: Production Manager

  • Overview:

 

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Technician located at our Romsey (R&D Laboratories)

 

The Laboratory Technician works under limited supervision of more experienced technical personnel. Basic skills in science, maths, and computers are necessary. Able to make observations, clearly communicate with supervisor, independently solve straightforward problems, and draw basic conclusions. Able to do limited independent research of basic principles.


 

Responsibilities:

• Execute tests as defined by Production Manager
• Report results in a clear and concise manner as defined by Production Manager
• Meticulously document data in laboratory notebook
• Follow established test methods, SOPs, and safe lab practices and troubleshoot/make suggestions when necessary.
• Make conclusions and suggestions for next steps, including identifying any discrepancies in data.
• Appropriately prioritize workload based on input for supervisor


 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:


• Some science coursework or AAS and 2+ years of laboratory experience, or equivalent.

 

Skills and Competencies:


 Technical and Functional Knowledge
o Executes technical work in laboratory or pilot plant.
o May supervise technicians.
 Self Management
o Executes small projects with supervision.
o Generates data provides results to supervisor.
